About Yoga
The word yoga is derived from the ancient Sanskrit root
verb ¡®yuj¡¯, which means ¡°to join¡± or ¡°unite¡±. It signifies the union of
the conscious mind with the deeper levels of the unconscious or universal
mind, which ultimately results in a totally integrated personality. Yoga
is the ancient science as a mean of achieving physical, mental, and spiritual
well-being and as a pathway to liberation or enlightenment. Yoga can be
an especially helpful tool for relaxation and a means of reducing stress
and mental tension caused by living in a different culture.
"Yoga is to remove disturbances from one's mind and heart. Yoga
is to have a strong hold on one's heart which is like a wild horse. The
methods to do that are asana(postures), breath, and meditation. Thus yoga,
is realistic. It is based on one's reality. You
should feel freedom and peace at home and work. Yoga should not
be considered as a mysterious approach to life."
